Today i done the Audax of Meriden in a warm up for my trip to France with Geoff, the Audax was local to us 20 minutes down the road by car. So we left at 8am to start at 9am. We got changed and signed in. We was ready to go me with my Garmin and route sheet and Geoff had another route sheet, we headed off down Berkswell road that we both know so well. We climbed up and through turning right down Hodgetts Lane and then turning right onto the B4101 and swining right to Holly lane heading towards Honiley and Beausale, the last time we went here it rained guess what it rained. Moving swiftly onto Hasely over the M40 and A4189 to Norton Lindsey we were motoring by this time i was feeling fine and i'm sure Geoff was. Passing through Black Hill, Hampton Lucy, Charlecote and through Welesbourne and onto Kineton where it was our first Cafe stop. We set off on Banbury road the wind was horrible right into us. I was expecting a big climb between 48 km and 54 km and it was coming up. It was climbing through Burton Dassett country park. The Question was "How much is the parking", £1.50 it was as we were still climbing and swung left towards Fenny Compton. We then passed through Knightcote and Bishops Itchington or as the sign said "Hop Itchingto" we cycled towards the next Cafe stop which was on Hall lane awaiting us was a table full of food and coffee. We then left for the finish line which was about 25 mile away. We headed over the A452 towards Bascote and disaster hit Geoffs chain got stuck and it wouldn't budge so he prized it out and about 15 minutes later we were moving but we had been passed by 4 over cyclists from the same ride we was on. We moved on carefully but at a pace through Offchurch, Cubbington and Blackdown we caught 2 cyclists up and climb through Hill Wooton and Leek Wooton to our knowledge there were 4 cyclists in front of us we had passed 2 so that left 2. We motored on through to Beausale again and we weren't far from home, we were back to where we knew we passed through Honiley and down Holly lane again and onto spencsers lane i seen the second placed rider to my knowledge and went after him and got him on Berkswell road my legs were saying don't do it so gritting my teeth my head said do it so i went on and passed him. He went left before i did so what does that mean i came second or third. It doesn't matter my legs felt good and we went and signed in and had some cold beans on toast and a cup of tea.
Time 4hrs 14 minutes 20 seconds
Distance 66.64 miles
Elevation 3,544 Feet
